Re: Software for editing Panasonic SDR-HD5

I am pretty sure I have read iMovie will handle this though you would have to be running the latest version.

The latest version of iMovie (08) will handle the files directly from the camera (or card reader) and they can be captured the same as tape.

However if your like me, and have an older non Intel mac (G4 Powerbook in my case) then you might want to have a look at Voltaic it will cost you $30 but does a really good job of converting the MTS files into the Apple Intermediate Codec needed for iMovie and Final Cut Pro.

There is a demo on the site, download it and see what you think, the MTS files are easy to get off the SD card and converting takes about 4-10 times real speed, I just leave it to its thing overnight, and according to the bumpf it is as good as the real thing, I have not had chance to go to the Apple Store and check out the Intel macs to see if this really is the case.

I have only had the Camera 3 weeks, and I am very impressed with the results for £340 using the method outlined

Hope this helps.
