Camcorder advice

Hi,
I'm looking for a durable pocket size solid state HD camcorder to take on ski and climbing trips as well as everyday stuff. I'm not finding too many options at the moment not sure if there is new stuff coming soon from other manufacturers.
List so far is

Sony HDR TG3
Sanyo xacti range

Can anyone offer advice ?

Re: Camcorder advice

These are the only 2 examples that fit your wish list
The Sony is too new to comment on
And the Sanyo Xacti range is well discussed in threads on here. a simple search will show some older threads p
Suffice to say the the Xacti HD1000 is the most "mainstream"
the earlier models are not universally liked
They are small: Not sure of they are still camcorder with video ability or Camcorders of certain abilty with stills ability... Make sure you know what you are getting.. it may be all you need or not
The Panasonic range are actually small, HD (AVCHD ) and may be worth giving a second look inasmuch as they are cute but not "pocket sized"

Re: Camcorder advice

I'm also looking for a small camcorder. I have concerns about software campatibility on the Xacti HD1000 and the TG3 is just too expensive. There is however Aiptek's new AHD-Z500 which might be an option although i'm not sure it's available to buy in the UK as yet. As far as I can tell, it's very small, capable of full HD and will be priced at well under £200. Unfortunately, I haven't as yet seen any reviews which say whether it's any good or not.
