JVC GZ-MG330 Editing Help!

I've just purchased a JVC GZ-MG330 30GB Hard Disk Drive Camcorder.

I'm a total rookie at camcorders and the sparse instruction manual isn't very helpful.

My question is....

I have say a one-hour video clip recorded. I have a five-minute continuous section within the clip that I want to keep and delete the rest. The only way that I can see to do this is to fast forward to the START of the five-minute section and using edit to make a copy of the remainder of the clip (which obviously includes the five-minute section).

Then I follow the same procedure with this copied clip except that I now fast forward to the END of the five-minute section and get edit to make a copy of the previous section which will be the five-minute continuous section I want.

I know I can download it to my PC and make this easy but is the above the "best" way to edit using the camcorder itself or am I missing something?

Thanks - Ed

I think you are missing something. It is easier to edit on a PC IF you have the right connections and Software.

I agree entirely ..
what you are struggling to do in-camera is infinitely easier with more control on a PC
I suspect you will wonder why you didnt do it on the PC when you find out how easy it can be
The only connection you need is a USB cable. Software abound. The JVC does tend to come with Cyberlink ( which I ( personally) dont rate much but is "free" with the camcorder and usable)
Otherwise Download Sony Vegas Movie Studio 8 Platinum ( or similar) as a trial version and see how much less fiddling you would do

In Camera editing...??., Give it a miss!
