Sony Sr11 specific questions + bit of canon hf10

Ok, before anyone flames i have been searching for a while and reading what i can about the sony sr11 and canon hf10 cams but could do with the following been answered by someone who knows as i cant seem to find the answers.

Initially i was going for canon hf10 but i need a cam within 10 days for honeymoon so after much reading have virtually decided on the Sony Sr11.

Q's. I do know some of these can be answered with "depends what you like" but im just after what's worked for people and some general opinions from owners/users.
Also im aware of all the editing difficulties with AVCHD and computer specs required etc so we dont need to comment on those as ill be able to sort all that later.

1) What bag is a good fit for the sony sr11 plus batteries etc?
2) When you record on the Sr11 i gather it creates mts files. Does it create a file per each record/stop or does it lump everything together in one file?

Next 2 Q's relate to me being on holiday and most likely not near a PC.

3) I think i'm right in assuming you can transfer content to a memory card pro duo on the cam but a card i'd buy would be only about 8gb so it depends on the answer to q2 whether or not its going to work transferring files to card to save space on hdd.
4) Can you transfer recorded content to an external usb hdd without a PC? (like the sanyo hd1000)

Next question i know is based on opinion and shouldn't affect a decision due to hype etc but i know the differences in the TV world just not the cam world and would like to ask owners/users their opinions. I have viewed footage of both cams and am impressed with both, but its not the same as when you get the kit and view for yourself on your own display. Its also not possible to test these cams before purchase (for me anyway).

I'm also aware this question has been answered on other threads but im trying to make it specific to these 2 cams.

5) Sony Sr11 doesn't do progressive recording, like the canon hf10/100, and as im a cam newbie i wasnt sure if this made a big difference in the recording world between these 2. I do know what it all means 50i/25p, 60i/24p (3.2 pulldown) etc so i know the theory i just want users with more cam knowledge to comment.
I gather it doesn't come down to much at all and more of a preference in this class of camera so does anyone have any experience with both and actually notice a difference. I obviously want to get the best i can for the price and i know the sony sr11 picture quality is excellent but if the progressive makes a difference i'm perhaps best waiting and just getting a cheap SH cam for the interim.

Thanks

One file per clip (start/stop).

I don't think so; but I didn't know the HD1000 could.

Hi avlava,

Did you ever find a suitable case for your SR11? I've been looking at the Samsonite Samoa DV60 the Lowepro Clips 120 and the Lowepro Mini AW. Any thoughts or recommendations?
Thanks.
