Hi-8 to DVD transfer services?

Hi, I've got a load of old family Hi-8 tapes that I want to convert to DVD. I've sat through a few hours of tape and have converted some on my PC, but I've decided that I'd rather get someone else to do it for me! Can anyone recommend a decently priced reliable outfit who do this kind of thing?

Cheers

Re: Hi-8 to DVD transfer services?

For the cost of a decent Settop DVD recorder. you could Do it yourself over time
If you get one with an HDD you could combine the contents of 2 or 3 tapes into one DVD
If not just hit play on the camcorder, record on the settop recorder and go to bed ( work ) or else where..
You dont need the hassle of doing it on a PC if you have that many and a settop DVD recorder may cost you less or just as much to do it commercially

Re: Hi-8 to DVD transfer services?

Thanks for the advice. I suppose it does make sense as the cost of getting these tapes transferred would far exceed the cost of a DVD recorder. Is there a decent/reasonably priced DVD recorder you'd recommend for the purpose?

Re: Hi-8 to DVD transfer services?

Im a little out of date but i have used a Panasonic and currently an LG model personally, and from time to time a Sony model owned by a friend and found them all decent , easy to use and capable of good results
I would imagine a visit to the DVD recorders forum would get you up to date on best VFM current models
