I am after a cheap camcorder which will download direct to my ps3, i don,t want to stream it from my pc (as it is about to die) i was looking at this one but i don,t know if the playback format is compatible with the ps3, if anyone could let me know if it is or if there are any other camcorders that are and are cheap

Re: Camcorder downloading to ps3

Why dont you copy to another PC, make a data dvd and copy the files to PS3 ?
The PS3 is not designed to accept files off a camcorder directly no matter how cheap or expensive..
Certainly not tape models and even with HDD models Im pretty sure youll find it wont play ball
It is a Media streamer but if you dont want to stream to it.. read the files off a data DVD or copy to its HDD ( temporarily)

Re: Camcorder downloading to ps3

Im unaware of this direct transfer from camcorder to PS3. It may well be a new Sony camcorder thing
At any rate I have 2 Sony HDV camcorders and since they use firewire not USB, the only way to go is via the computer
I dont mean to go one about it but what is a "cheap" camcorder?
Given that the feature of direct transfer to PS3 is probably not a common one I cant see it being implemented on a Non Sony Non HDD model none of which is "cheap"
Regardless of the state of your PC ( about to die and without a DVD writer,) using a PC really is the easiest and least costly way. Even if you burn to a CD, you may still be able to read off the files in a PS3 but the most affordable camcorder would be one of the lower cost SD HDD camcorder

PS: The Aiptek camcorder you have linked does 720p at 30fps. It is low cost , may work (i dont know) but there is a risk that the PS3 may not even be able to play its files
Maybe someone here who has tried may be able to say
