3.2” Wide Screen Protector - Where can I get one?
Now that I have a HDR-SR11 on its way to me, I thought I would look for a 3.2" screen protector to try and offfer a bit of protection for the screen as its a touch screen.
Does anyone have any idea as to sourcing one?

I wouldnt use a screen protector on a touch screen camcorder. they really are quite well "protected"
grubby finger marks should not cause a problem with reasonable care
It might make the menu items difficult to access

Re: 3.2” Wide Screen Protector - Where can I get one?
I would, paying £500+ for an item for with an LCD screen might as well protect it, even a DS I would put a screen protector on, anything where the LCD plays a vital role, I got a canon camera had a 2.5" LCD just cut a PDA Screen protector down to size, I suggest getting a Brando Ultra Clear Screen protector or Martin Fields one for the Tom Tom XL or 720 as they are 4.3" Wide and you can cut it down to size, avoid the cheap ones

Just ask for the Tom Tom 720 one..

Different strokes.
I have Camcorders worth more than twice that amount which use touch screen technology and dont have screen protectors, and DSLR worth £400 with one. Also a lot of Tom Tom owners do fine without one
The point is my experience with Sony LCD is that they are "scratch resistant" but more to the point is, how well will a touch screen device work with a protector?
I dont suppose there is any harm in trying one to see but your point about the cost of the item is a bit dismissive of the whole point of touch screen in Sony.
I speak from personal experience not ignoring the fact that the SR 11 is not a low value item

You'd think for the £10 you pay for one they would design them with that in mind, have a search for Martin Fields, not all of us can afford to buy a new cam/tom tom when the screen gets scratched, some of use just want the extra insurance, what's £10 when you item costs £500, My Canon looks great with the protector on by the way...

So do my Canon DSLRs, but then they arent touch screen
Maybe Sonys LCDs are better protected than Tom Toms..
As you say £10 for trying it out is peanuts, and there is no harm in trying . If it doesnt work well they are easy enough to remove

Re: 3.2” Wide Screen Protector - Where can I get one?
I use a screen protector on my Sony Ericsson P990i -- and recently it saved the screen from a deep scratch. no problem with touch sensitivity, handwriting recognition works so I would expect that the Sr11/Sr12 screen would be just fine.
I am buying a set of these for my Sr12 -- A fab camcorder by the way ! Very impressed.

Glad you like it. It isnt impossible that the Camcorder and phone touch screens differ though
I have no problems with a screen protector but Im playing devils advocate
Why for instance, has Sony not sought to sell screen protectors for thier own camcorder LCDs? ( the way they have for the phone?)
Like you I also have an older Sny Erricson P900 which IIRC had an integrated film to cover its screen, rendering a screen protector a bit redundant.
For one thing, when new, it had another film on it which was meant to be removed and didn't do much for visibility of the screen. for another, it had a soft tipped non traumatic stylus which in every day use way very kind to its screen
Many years on ( and a few falls,) its body has ( more than ) a few marks to show from tumble but its screen is still pristine
With regards the OPs requirements, the Sony camcorder LCDs are the way to access the menus...
Sony has persisted with this practice despite many of its customers grumbling. Although dirty fingermarks are unavoidable, its is not untrue to say that barring a mishap,, they are in normal use quite scratch resistant ( and touch sensitive)

Re: 3.2” Wide Screen Protector - Where can I get one?
Enough of this, have already advised OP, we all know the touch screens were designed to withstand every day use, but once there is a scratch there is nothing you can do, so these screen protectors are just a reassurance, I dread to think what they people use to protect there tablet pc's screen, now Senu on to other matters, check you PM lately?
