Canon HG10 or Sony HDR-SR5E or other?

Hi,

Im looking into getting a HD hard drive camcorder.

I had chosen HDR-sr5e , but after doing more research i hear the canon is better.

Is their a better model/make for roughly round £500.

Finally i will be using windows vista 64bit. Does anyone who have a canon or sony with vista 64bit found issues/problems?

No.... There is the new SR11, but that is £700+.

There is the Panasonic SD9 which is of a similar price to the HG10, but it uses SD cards, not HDD.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Not going for the sony hdr-sr5e as its NOT vista 64bit compatible.

Currently looking to see if the Canon one is.

Re: Canon HG10 or Sony HDR-SR5E or other?

just an update.

got the canon HG10 , very happy with it. I also can confirm it is 64bit compatible. It just appears as a drive letter (mass storage device)

Software supplied works fine. To play hd recorded material via windows media player you need to install a HD codec and associate the extensions with windows media player and thats it!
