i want to buy a camcorder for under 600 pounds. i have had no idea what i should look for. i recently used a HD hard drive JVC one and loved the ease of use downloading to my mac.
i am going on holiday soon and want to buy a camcorder.
i have seen the Sony HDD-SR35 and wondered if this was any good or should i wait for the new version of this. or are there others u would recommend instead.
if any could help i would greatly appreciates it

For £600 you can get much better than the SR35, which is a sd def model with a single, tiny 1/8" sensor.

You could go for a HDV tape model like the Canon HV20/HV30, or for HDD the Canon HG10... or for flash memory the new Panasonic SD9, or the even newer Canon HF100 will be under £600 when it is generally available.

Have a look at the Sony HDR-SR10, only just released but should be more commonly available within the next few weeks. 40 Gb HDD, Hi-Def, Dolby 5.1. I was really impressed with the test footage which you can download from here.

You should be able to find it for a smidge under £550.
