Canon DC220 - how to transfer ...

Hi, I have recently bought a new camcorder Canon DC220; I have filled 5 minidisks (8cm DVD-RW). I want to transfer the contents of the minidisks into my PC (XP operating system); I have tried to connect the Camcorder to the PC with its USB but it does not work. Also, from the disk provided together with the manual and the camcorder itself, I do not find any program which can open/convert the minidisks into my harddrive.

My questions: 1. how can I open and view the contents of the minidisks into my PC;

2. how can I produce a DVD inclusive of all the 5 minidisks;

3. which company or trader, in London, could possibly help me with this type of problem?

Any help would be appreciated...

The easiest way is to put the finalised mini DVDs into your PC DVD drive, and then use an editing package which can edit them (any editing package should be able to) - Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum, Premiere Elements, Ulead Video Studio, Pinnacle Studio. (Assuming you have a Windows PC). Maybe even the supplied Movie Maker under Vista (The XP version doesn't support DVD format, Vista may).

Hi Mark, do you know of any editing package distributed for free on the web?

I have managed to finalize my disks and I can open them on my PC with Power DVD. But I cannot save them or else, which is very frustrating.

Regards

I don't know any free editing packages, other than Movie Maker (Windows) or iMovie (Mac), which are supplied with the OS.

Re: Canon DC220 - how to transfer ...

There are trial versions of mostly non-free ones though

Why do you want a free package.?
They are mostly limited in ability or ease of use.. or both ( as a rule of thumb)

Many DVD camcorders have a USB cable( and some dont) but I think they were designed for you to simply copy the discs contents to a PC ( once finalised.)
If Power DVD can play them on your PC then you should be able to do that easily.
The Video TS folder should contain the VOBs . Saying that, some camcorder and settop DVD reorder disca have a slightly different structure

Although not really the way, if you absolutely cannot copy the discs contents, you can play the disc from the camera to a settop DVD recorder ( better if it has HDD) then use that to make a Standard disc
