Canon E200 to dvd - how can this be done?

I used to have a Canon E200 camcorder in the late 80's early 90's which was a 8mm, I no longer have the camcorder, but have the footage on the small camcorder tapes, what I would like is to put this footage onto dvd?

Since i no longer have the camcorder, only the tapes, how can i transfer the footage?

i heard of some VHS tape, that you place the 8mm tape into and it works on your video, so you can then record to dvd?

any help appreciated

You would be better off getting a Hi 8 camcorder rather than an "8 mm to VHS" adaptor even if you could find one
( I thought that was only for VHS-C,( different tape) not 8mm TBH)

The other option is a Digital 8 camcorder which can play 8mm tapes
The Digital 8 has firewire output with which you can transfer the footage to a PC as digital.. then make a DVD
If you use an ordinary Hi 8 camcorder you will need an analogue to digital type box ( google "dazzle") THIS

You dont have to buy new ( Cash converters ect) or you may even be able to borrow an unused one off someone

With either you can record to DVD via a settop DVD player, avoiding the PC

It is only VHS-C tapes that can be played in a VHS VCR with the tape adapters. video8 & Hi8 use different recording formats to VHS, so would not be compatible with the VCR. A VHS-C tape is exactly the same as a standard VHS tape, just in a smaller case.
