Problem with camcorder GS320 - Red/Blue/Green line

Hi All,

I have recently brought a Panasonic GS320. When I transfer a recorded video to the PC, I get a red/blue/green line appear at the bottom of the picture (Only 1 whole line). The line colour changes when the video is playing.

When watching the video from the camcorder, the picture is perfect.

I have tried different software, different cables. I have tried getting a screen shot but it’s not visible on the screen grab.

Playing the video from direct from camcorder to TV is fine, no lines visible.

Is the CCD faulty?

Thanks

Re: Problem with camcorder GS320 - Red/Blue/Green line

View finders tend not to show the whole picture or aspect ratio, PC's do, however if the output or edited video looks ok on your TV screen then I wouldn't worry about it, after all video should be viewed on a TV

Cheers, you are right the burned video on the DVD is perfect and playing direct from camcorder to TV is fine as well - no issues with the picture.

Re: Problem with camcorder GS320 - Red/Blue/Green line

Glad to hear all is ok, anyone editing video should be aware that the Preview on a Video editor tends to show the full aspect ratio of the captured footage which is normaly cropped down when viewed on a tv, this is why (especially when adding titles) the editing programs offer a "safe area" for the text to be displayed, it stops the text from being cropped if inserted at the top/sides/bottom of the picture.

Re: Problem with camcorder GS320 - Red/Blue/Green line

That is all true, though I've never seen a coloured line like that on captured DV or HDV. When capturing analogue footage I've seen noise in the "overscan" area. As you say if it really is just one line at the edge it will never cause a real problem, unless maybe if you play it on a PC. Still seens odd.
