New camcorder - advice, suggestions required

Hi All,

Currently looking at purchasing miniDV camcorder for home movies (kids, holidays etc). Budget of approx 200 pounds. Will be putting onto DVD for general viewing later so picture quality needs to be good.

Any suggestions much appreciated!

Just spent nearly 2 hrs searching to try and get an idea, but heads hurting now!

Thanks

Thanks for the advice!

Where is a reputable place to buy from online?

Is there much difference between the 101 and 160? Is it worth the extra money?

Is the picture quality on the 101 good , have noticed some people report it being 'grainy'

Thanks

The video quality of the MD160 is slightly better, but the difference is small.
In good light, the picture quality of both is very good. With any camcorder in this budget (and to a lesser extent any camcorder which cost less than several thousand pounds) the quality will decline with less light; that is when you will get noise/grain.

Re: New camcorder - advice, suggestions required

Can't find any reviews on the Sony HC51 but doesn't look like it's true wide screen as the Canon MD101 is.

Both seem good makes and similar specs.

Anybody tried/purchased the Sony HC51, feedback?

Thanks
