Picture Motion Browser (Sony HDR-UX# series)

This is a long story but I'll try to be as succinct as possible.

A few weeks ago I went to my sisters' wedding in the dominican republic. I have an SR1 of my own but it was being repaired at the time so I recorded (in AVCHD onto DVD RWs) the wedding with my sisters' UX5. She asked me if i could edit the video and put together something for her. I agreed and took her UX5 home with me (keep in mind she lives across the country from me). I got home to realize that a recent formatting of my computer required me to reinstall Picture Motion Browser... only to discover that the disc from my SR1 is not, for some reason, compatible with the UX5 even though it is the same program!! I try to get through setup but when it asks you to plug in your cam, it won't recognize the UX5. If things couldn't get any worse, my sister has misplaced her disc so she cannot mail me a copy.

I have Sony Vegas Pro 8 that I use for editing. Even this software will not allow me to import my footage. When I choose "Import DVD Camcorder Disc" and try to select the drive, it grays out the "OK" button suggesting there is no disc in the drive.

I have also gone over to a friend's house who has Pinnacle studio plus 11... which is supposed to have support for direct AVCHD import, but of course that does not work as well.

The only thing that has even allowed me to play back the videos on my computer has been PowerDVD. Other than that, I am convinced you need to have sony's picture motion browser for the other programs to recognize the discs. The software must be a driver in it's own or something.

It's important to note that Sony has been fairly uncooperative about sending me a copy of picture motion browser for the UX5 btw. So what I'm asking for is if anyone can rip their picture motion browser disc for me (I'd be willing to try an install disc for any of the UX# series). Other than that, if anyone has a sure way of getting AVCHD footage off my cam without having picture motion browser installed.. I'd appreciate any tips on that as well.

Thank you so much for any replies!
Hopefully this gets solved soon, it's been a major headache trying to figure this out for the past 2 weeks!

Is your disk recognized in you PC DVD drive?
If so you could try a program called ISOBUSTER this program can retrieve files and information from dodgey DVD's
Not familiar with DVD cam's but can't you just put the DVD in the PC DVD and copy from that ?
