video input output cards

Hi

I have an old samsung camcorder (non-digital) and was wondering if there is a card for my pc that i can plug the input output cables into so i can record it to disc (other than buying a dvd player recorder)

Re: video input output cards

I'd go for a PCI based one as they have a much higher bandwidth...

Or even this, if you camera has svideo output...

Need compatable sofftware though, a demo of premiere should be fine....

Re: video input output cards

Surely overkill for transferring some old Hi8 or simply 8mm footage though, especially if you need to also get software like premiere (even as a demo)

Anyway , maybe you didnt notice, the Linked Pinnacle products are actually PCI based and come with software already
But the Canopus ACDV box use firewire to connect to the PC The Pcs firewire card would be PCI or hardwired to the Motherboard
They also sport s-video input and are not USB devices
USB devices which digitise analogue in hardware to Mpeg2 "on the fly" dont need more bandwwith than USB if it is to transfer the mpeg2 files to PC.
Dazzle makes some of such devices but Im a little uncertian of the quality which is why I havent mentioned them

However unless editing is desired , I would reconsider any misgivings about a setop DVD recorder which may not cost more than all these cards ect and is much less hassle and "PC free"
You can still use the PC even then , Just copy the ootage offf the DVD video discs made off the settop recorder.

Im not sure I understand you.
You have tapes which you wish to turn into digital format via capture to computer...Yes??
The solutions above do not require your video to be on any disc. The "boxes" have inputs for the white ( audio) and yellow ( composite video) jacks

The reference to disc in my last post were for discswhich would have been made off a Settop DVD recorder after being made by transfer from tapes to it
Read the whole post as I think you read just the snippet at the end\
