Thanks: Gave 10, Got 2 | ulead 10 burning disc question
I have finished my project of 10 short clips, I added then all and burnt the disc. The problem I have is if you watch the movie from the beginining all is fine, but if you pick a chapter(one of the clips) from the menu and then try to go to next clip it says action unavaliable it will not let you forward to the next chapter as a normal dvd movie ? thanks

If you burn them as 10 clips, then each is a title, not a chapter. You won't be able to move to the next one with the chapter button.
If you burn it as one clip (file) with chapter points, then you can move to the next chapter with the chapter button.

Having deinstalled VS10 I cant help but Brian110507 is the UleadVS Expert. I find that with UleadMovieFactory you can control how the clips behave when you access them from the menu

In Ulead VideoStudio 10, go to the 'Share' tab and select 'Create Disc'. Click on the gear wheel icon in the bottom left corner. In 'Navigation Controls' select whichever action you require.

Hi thanks for the replys,
What I did was clicked the share option on uLead 10,
clicked create disc,
then clicked add media, untill all clips were on the botton timeline, how do I add them as a chapter instead of a title ?
What I want to do is add 9 clips of video to the project and have each clip as a chapter not a title ? and I would like on the menu the 9 clips shown as 9 chapters, It looked ok before with 9 little moving thumbnails and all numbered , but it would not let me fast forward ? Not sure if that makes sense ! thanks again

Yes it makes sense, if you want to be able to move forward you need to have 1 large video file, not 9.
I don't use Ulead VS, but there may be a way to have one file with 9 chapter points, but also show each one separately on the menu. (I could tell you how in Vegas which I use...). Hopefully a Ulead VS user can jump in here.

Hi tried again and i clicked all of the clips, and it give me the option of rearranging the clips into a different order before i added them, so i did and added them all together to the timeline at the bottom, but its still the same as before ?
How could i join them all together before I add them to the timeline and then add/create chapters after from one clip.
It all seems a long way round, I have looked at all of the options and can not see anything that would help. it says they are all clips when I rearrange them , but act as titles when they are on the disc ? thanks again

Without going into specifics, I think Mark is suggesting that you make the clips a continous single clip in VS during editing
In making the menu, you would then place markers which would represent chapter points for navigation ,
This means that you could use one continous clip but create chapters using marker points. These would also show as "different clips"
This is how it works in many other editors
I am a bit spoilt in that I tend to never use built in DVD arthoring tools , prefering instead to use standalone programs like Moviefactory (because they are far more flexible) which you can use a long clip with or even separate clips and end up with the same result
Unless a dedicated VS user helps along youll have to go with trial and error
or
Like me
Use MoviefFactory
Sony Vegas does not build DVD arthoring into Vegas instead DVD architect ( or studio ) are part of the complimentary package. What you lose in extra time you gain in Flexibility when arthoriong the DVD
Good Luck

Since your question is specific to Ulead VideoStudio 10, you would get a more comprehensive answer by posting it in the Ulead forum: http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/

Hi thanks again, how do i make it one continous clip in the editing ? The reason I broke it up was because it was too big a file and it kept freezing trying to do it all at once.
I have Moviemaker but it just looked the same as ulead but a few more templates and choices, how can I do it in moviemaker, because the interface just looks the same >? thanks

How long is it?
When you output the clips do you do so as "separate " clips, Joining them is simple.
Sometimes you can edit separately , output to DV AVI and then reimport these in the end to timeline, that should "join them"
WMM can be used in a similar way
I would still urge you to download and try MovieFactory. and give it a go when you have time

Hi the clips are roughly 10 mins or less long, the total project lasts 1 hour 10 mins.
I edited 6 hours of video to get to the final 1 hour 10 min.
I edited it all down and then rendered each clip seperatly , to be left with the 9 clips with total length 1 hour 10 mins.
I looked at the moviemaker but it just seems the way you add clips etc is just the same as uLead 10, there seems to be just more options when making the menus, but it all looks the same.
How would I make one long clip with them all, would i add them all together before render and render then all together as one clip ? thanks

The length of the clip should not be longer than the length of the indiviual clips : ie 1hr 10 min
