how to change pinnacle avi files to mpeg 1

more on the pinnacle dc10 to cd-r, when im ready to transfer to cd-r ,i believe that the files are stored in avi format how do i change them to mpeg 1 so they can be put on cd and played back through a dvd player ...thanks joe

You need a program called TMPEG http://www.tmpgenc.net/e_main.html

I,m new to this game ! but how much footage will i be able to fit on a cd-r after it has been changed to mpeg-1, and will the quality be the same as vhs and do people use the pinnacle -cd-r method to store their video footage ?
