What render formats have you tried?
Some of the better you Tube Videos were taken with very good camcorders and even with compression they still look great.
Im not saying your camcorder isn't great but it is a bit difficult to compare in that way
Also some formats compress better than others and YouTube allows a variety of formats
Do you perhaps have Canopus Procoder? If anything it has a better encoder than Uleads software

From the Youtube Help section

What's the best format to upload for high quality?

We recommend the following settings:

* MPEG4 (Divx, Xvid) format
* 640x480 resolution (* most updated recommendation)
* MP3 audio
* 30 frames per second

Resizing your video to these specifications before uploading will help your videos look better on YouTube.

Although using Adobe Premiere Pro I noticed dropped frames when trying to convert from 25fps to 30fps. I actually got better quality using 25fps. Also I converted to Quicktime using the H.264 Compressor. I seem to get quite good quality this way. I'm not familier with Ulead, but I'm sure there must be similar settings.

Thanks for that
YouTube sometimes forgets that not all videos are sourced from NTSC !
I agree that some experimenting may be needed but It may also be that Premier Pro has better encoders than UleadVS10 and it (VS10s) strengths may lie in other directions!

Also, with Premiere I am able to change the file size to fit in with the 100MB limit set for individual files. I try to get as near to the 100MB limit as possible. It takes a lot longer to upload but it definately looks a lot better! I have not investigated Ulead, but it's worth seeing if this a possibilty.

Re: Best way to add video to youtube with uLead

Thanks seems very interesting. Apart from Youtube, Im also a little unhappy how folk dont realise that with a little attention to the rules and a litle care they can get videos from "youve been framed" to very watchable levels .
This is by no means saying all video should be BBC or Sky material but in the same way aswe aspire to more than Snapshots " for Photos, Im sure Im not alone in thinking a well shot and edited video is capable of being seen as creative and good use of time
Having said that YouTube also has many examples of very well shot and edited video
