Video Camera?

Not sure where to stick it!

Well my mum got a Video Camera for xmas that takes mini disc, now my problem is I can't look at the stuff on the disk on a PC unless I finalize the disk which is a waste if I use it to make a few minuet video out for 30 mins, so can I avoid this?

Next question is, best way to make it into a editable video as its in a DVD format and if it can be id like the software to be free.

Re: Video Camera?

You have to finalise it to watch it on anything other than the camera itself. No way around this.

Can't help on the second point other than doesn't Windows have a Movie Maker program of some kind?

Re: Video Camera?

Windows movie maker on Vista ( rather than XP) may well be better at editing the mpeg2 files that you get from a DVD camcorder but you are better off getting proper software ( not free) but a lot are quite affordable and cost far less than some X Box games
Most recent Software can do it

Also, if you must watch stuff off an unfinalised DVD.. you can
Capture from the camcorder as analogue: look at the Pinnacle? dazzle devices
or
Record as analogue ( av out) to a settop DVD and "waste" a DVD blank
otherwise waste the MiniDVD or wait till its full
