Re: Nero 8

It's worth pointing out that this is the Essentials eddition (OEM equivelent) rather than the Full edition.

Although even if you upgrade it to the full version you might still save on purchasing the full version outright, unfortunately the Nero website won't tell you how much it costs to upgrade unless you enter your serial no.

Re: Nero 8

The actual full version doesnt cost that much more and given

Neros sudden enthusiam for online activation , the cost difference ( especially if you intend to do more than just burn CDs) may not be worth the hassle

Im very anti online activation for many of these things we pay good money for , partly because I think I copy of nero on my Laptop and desktop is not asking for a lot if i paid £39 for it, and partly because even a Software glitch in windows may leave you with crippled software but that is another issue entirely and The companies have to decide what is in thier best interest

Often it's the licensing regulations which mean the software is expensive. However I use Burrn for cd burning with decoding from FLAC Frontend to WAV. I mainly use Nero for encoding video. I use EAC for getting audio to my hard drive from cd to wav.

Re: Nero 8

Its not the Burn aspect that requires any online actvation, it is the " encoding" ect.I have no problem with paying the little extra for third party patents
Í do however have issues with needing separate purchases of Nero for my laptop and desktop which I wont be using simultaneously
But giving praise to whom it is due
As a Software suite it is very versatile and reasonably priced
