Advice on hard drive camcorder specifics please

Hi all

I'm looking for a hard drive camcorder that has a s-video in jack (I'm hoping to connect a 2.4ghz receiver to the camera so that I can see and record images from a wireless transmitting camera), it also needs to have a battery capable of recording for 10 hours or so. I have seen the sony range of hard drive camcorders but none of them have the s-video in jack.....does anyone know of an alternative?

Also I'm looking to connect and external lens(pinhole size, powered by its own battery) to the camcorder to view and record its images onto the hard drive. Is this possible?

Many thanks.

Re: Advice on hard drive camcorder specifics please

Most HDD camcorders dont have composite AV-in, let alone S-video. Even tape models with S-video in are very thin on the ground in the Consumer range these days. Some semi pro tape models stil have them
Some of the Semi pro Pro models also have Solid state HDD type Add ons to replace tape
Firestore is one of such tapeless solutions
10hr batteries probably exist but most can do 10 hrs as long life with continuous use without LCD use. With Start Stop , I doubt if any will
As for connecting a pin hole sized external lens , I don't know of any such camcorder.
I imagine there may be some specialist camcorders for sporting , dog racing ect as well as security which are well outside the realms of the mainstream
Good luck in your search

Re: Advice on hard drive camcorder specifics please

No worries , the nearest alternative would be say a Canon HV20 tape model with composite ( not s-video) in, recording LP ( 90mins) on Standard def recording
The other would be to get an Older Mini DV or Digital 8 tape model which is capable of outputting DV to a laptops HDD via firewire while simultaneously taking an analogue input.
Such Camcorders coud digitise analogue inputs " on the fly" and are now not as common as they used to be.
However even with them a lens adaptor in addition is probably not possible.
