Av in & out

Does anyone know why so few mini DV camcorders come with AV in and out these days. I do a lot of video editing and being able to transfer back to tape is essential.

Re: Av in & out

The short answer is many/most don't have inputs, to keep the cost down. Especially in Europe, if they have inputs (DV or AV), then they are classed as a VCR and attract additional EU tax.

Combined with (I assume), the average consumer doesn't edit and thus there is not the demand. The demand is for the lowest possible price.

If all you want to do is transfer back to tape then you don't need AV-in, just DV-in. (But still those aren't that common).

Re: Av in & out

Hi RM

Stupid me, I meant DV in and out.

I`m considering getting the new Sony DCR-HC62E which has both DV in and out but I just hope it lasts longer than my Canon 6001 which only lasted 3 years.
