Everio GZ-MG575 or Sony DCR-SR190??

Yesterday I got a fairly good deal on a Sony DCR-SR72 but once I got it home, I wasn't really happy with the image quality particularly under low(ish) light levels - it was very grainy. So I took it back and got a refund this morning, and have been trawling these forums for most of today.....so I have narrowed the next choice down to the following two:

Everio GZ-MG575, or Sony DCR-SR190.

As I will be getting the next one over the internet, I have no idea which one to go for as I can't see the picture quality before I buy - I can't find a single shop that stocks the Sony.

So can anyone tell me which is the better of these two? Will the picture quality be much better than the DCR-SR72? I see that the lux is 1.5 on the SR190 so would imagine it's significantly better than the SR72 (which was 4). I'm not particularly bothered about being able to take high quality stills, and will only be using this for the usual family stuff, but for what I do record, I don't want it to be grainy if I'm only recording in my living room with the lights on....The footage will be played through my 42" Panny PWD7 so at that size, it needs to be fairly clear.

I don't really want to pay any more than around the £400 mark if I can help it so these are at the top end of my budget.

Any help greatly appreciated!

Those 2 models are very comparable. The auto controls on the Sony are better; if you will mainly shoot in auto mode the Sony is probably better. Conversely the JVC has better manual controls. Both will be noticably better than the SR72.

Re: MG575 or SR190??

That's what I was hoping to hear I just don't want to buy it from the internet (Pixmania) to then find that I don't like it. I remember having to return something to Pixmania a few years ago and it was a nightmare...
