Samsung VPMX10

Hello everyone! I recently bought a Samsung VPMX10 and even though it's not brilliant, it's working fine. The only problem is transferring the videos from the camera to the PC; I've followed the instructions in the booklet but to be honest, I'm not brilliant with computers and didn't really understand them! Can anybody help?

Re: Samsung VPMX10

At what point have you got stuck?

It looks like a simple connect to PC in XP or Vista.. It gets seen as a USB mass storage device in My computer, and then simply copy paste, or drag and drop its mpeg4 files,,
In much the same way as a USB key device
Apart from tape camcorders, any HDD, SD device will need you to get a little "brilliant " with computers as you will need to use the footage to Make DVDs ect.. Certainly if you just want to watch them off the card or off the PC .. It should be easy enough to suss out
As for quality and not being brilliant , It certainly seems Samsung isnt keen on winning any contests in the camcorder pageant
It is a PAL SD Mpeg4 card camcorder.. maybe it is good for what it says it is??

Re: Samsung VPMX10

I tried plugging it in and everything but it's still not playing. Well, sort of - it'll only play the sound and when I go to open it in the Cyberlink Power Director (editing software that came with it) it just says that the media file couldn't be opened. Any suggestions as to what to do next?

Re: Samsung VPMX10

Have you actually managed to download the files to the PC? If so Are they named as *.avi?
If you have, then transfer to PC is no longer an issue.
If you get the software to play audio but not video, it may be that you need a small software file to decode the file. These are called codecs and should normally be installed with the Cyberlink software.
Firstly can you actually play them? As you say, Power Director is actually more of Editing software. It may need reinstalling, or updating or simply installling the DIVX codec.
. It is difficult to say which suffice to say that you are dealing with Mpeg4 files
