Re: Which Software for writing AVCHD files to DVD?

THIS thread might be of interest to you

It would depend which camcorder your AVCHD files are from
HD DVD on normal DVD discs would be "Mini HD DVD" with 20min worth of high def
The Panasonics have Software in the box and the Canon has a Special version of UleadMovie Factory
However the HD data DVDs they write seem to be "friendlier" with BD playback devices especially PS3
Ulead MovieFactory 6 plus and UleadVideoStudio 11 plus ( updated) or better still ver 11.5 seem like candidates to try
If you have the Xbox 360 you could make a data DVD with WMV-HD files and playback on it even without its HD DVD add on
The PS3 is similar although it will read most file formats ( including AVCHD but not WMV HD) burnt to data DVD discs

However if you want to make "normal DVDs " from AVCHD files you need software to convert to SD mpeg2 which the Ulead software can do as well in addition to Pinnacle Studio, Sony Vegas Movie studio 8 and Adobe Premiere Elements 4

Be aware though that unless you make data discs with the likes of Nero, you will not be writing AVCHD files directly to a DVD disc but authoring an HD DVD directory structure
