Canon HG10 and standard resolution

Can the Canon HG10 record in standard definition too or just high definition? If it can only record in HD, can you use an editing package to output to standard resolution?

Thanks,

Jon

Re: Canon HG10 and standard resolution

No, it only records in HD/AVCHD.
Yes, any editing software which edits AVCHD will be able to convert it to other formats (e.g. standard definition MPEG2 for DVD-Video).

Re: Canon HG10 and standard resolution

It comes with software ( I just opened a package of an HG10 on loan for a few weeks) which can help edit and make SD DVDs but mainstream software will give probably you more options)

It can see in the dark??
I actually tried it out at a ( dimly lit) Family Christmas do yesterday but seeing how the Sony HC1, Canon ( DSLR) 30D at ISO 400 struggled , and the amount of flowing Id be (pleasantly) surprised if that footage is any good

I am using Pinnacle 11 and it works just fine. Good range of output file types.

Question - I thought I has the HG10 in its full HD mode but in pinnacle it says that the videos are 1440 X ***.

and found the answer mid -typing ---- The 3-megapixel CMOS chip shoots native 1,920x1,080 HD video, which then gets downconverted and interlaced to 1,440x1,080 AVCHD

ok
