sony vegas pro version 8 trial..

wont start on my vista machine

I loaded it onto an xp machine and works just fine, on the vista it stops immediately the black splash screen appears saying "sony vegas pro has stopped working.."
it seems to be having trouble creating the I/O manager..
I,ve updated my machine form microsofts support site so it has a ll the most recent hotfixes and updates

anybody else had similar problems??

Yep, exactly the same problem, let me know if you get anywhere with this because I can't find the solution either.

Re: sony vegas pro version 8 trial..

its such a shame because on the other, older , machine it looks fantastic. I've tried pinnacle, ulead and premiere and vegas looks better by far.

I'm seriously considering a switch to an imac and final cut express, I played around with i movie on the iMac in store, they have some demo files of cayman islands, fishes etc which look just fantastic. The salesman was not very clear if the apple would be able to handle AVCHD files in quite such an easy and intuitive manner.

Any suggestions?

Re: sony vegas pro version 8 trial..

I've figured it out.

Go to system properties and advanced system settings then where it says performance click on that and then on the Data Execution Prevention tab, make sure "turn on dep for all programs and services except those I select" is on and click on add which will then let you browse around, browse to the sony folder in the program files and find the vegas80.exe file and add that and apply, that's it. Start up Vegas and see what happens.

Good luck!

Sure, go into the control panel and select the user accounts bit and add or remove accounts then select the "go to the to main user accounts page", in there there's "Turn User account control on/off" - turn it off then restart computer and those warnings won't bother you again.

Re: sony vegas pro version 8 trial..

I'm having this issue and am not seeing the exact vegas80.exe to add to the DEP. I've added the vegas 7 and 8 programs i think but I still cannot open the program. Am I missing something? What else could I be doing wrong?

thanks
