cannon mv500i date capture on pc

Help please. I have a Cannon MV500i. On the screen and when watching on TV I can see the date ( for 5 seconds) of the filming. However, I cannot get the 5 second date to appear when I download it to my PC through the firewire. Any ideas please?

Re: cannon mv500i date capture on pc

The date is metadata and unless you capture as analogue with the display on is usually not going to be displayed with firewire
I say Usually
Have a look
Time Code and Firewire
The Linked utility in that thread can enable you display date and timecode via firewire capture apparently
I guess unless there is a security or forensic reason nobody wants to see that on thier video , it is probably impossible to remove with editing
