HDR-SR8 hdmi connecton to Pioneer 508xd

have connected my SR8 to pioneer plasma via HDMI but have no picture playback. can anyone tell me where i might be gong wrong

does the lead you are using on the pioneer play with other equipment[dvd player ps3 etc]if so the problem must be with the cam,i dont know about your sr8 but my fx-7 plays out of the hdmi but will not play out of component at the same time but yours does not have component unless i am mistaken just try without any other lead ,it sounds most likely a lead or
socket problem.

had a look and it seems your cam does have component .

cant try the lead with anything else as its mini HDMI on the camcorder end with normal HDMI into the plasma. the mini end i think is called HDMI 1.3 and is next gen camcorder connection (so sony says!) wonder if that has a bearing on it

Edit: checked the Pioneer web site and it says 1.3 Ok! cant be that then.

Do you have to enable HDMI in Sony menu ?

in the SR8's menu you go through a TV connection guide and select the HDMI.
also another option is to playback through cam and TV so i `think' i have gone through all the right options. swopped over the HDMI connection with my PS3 so both sockets on the plasma are fine. might take the cable and cam to a sony centre and see if they can test it

I"ve got the SR7 connected in same way to a Samsung with no prob ( pity Sony dont supply cable ) , spose you"ve unplugged replugged etc ?

Have you enabled the HDMI connection on the input you're using on the Pioneer? I had the same problem until I done this.

late reply due to christmas cheer. have tried HDMI options on the pionerr. will be popping the camcorder into a sony centre to have it checked out and will post results.
