Has Panasonic SD5 been discountinued ?

I just went to the Panasonic website to check the dimensions of the HDC-SD5and it is no longer listed as a product.

Have Panasonic discontinued it, or are they about to sell it as a bundle only with the DVD recorder ?

Any ideas, anyone ?

The SD5 is a only a few months old and there is no replacement model available, so I doubt it is discontinued; but you are right it has dissapeared from the Panasonic UK website. My guess this is an error by the webmaster.

That what hey told me when I talked to them but i reckon there could be a replacement round the corner

I think the problem with the SD range has been the poor quality of the bundle. You get the camcorder, and the simplistic and constrained Panasonic HD Writer application. Nothing else. No proper PC player for the clips you can easily pull from the SD card. You appear to be expected to own a BD or HDDVD player, or to plug in the HDMI lead (which isn't even supplied) to your HD TV to play anything. That's the first thing they have to sort out...

At least the recent post about the Sony AVCHD bundle demonstrates that Sony have made the same mess of AVCHD introduction.
