Ebuyer alternative camcorder advice needed

Very briefly -

Ebuyer sent me a Sony DCR-HC94E without a handycam station included
I called to ask for one
They said they had none so I would have to return camcorder and they would send me full replacement with one in
I sent it back to get an email saying money will be refunded to my account
I rang them today to give them a piece of my mind as I don't want a refund and need camcorder as baby just been born so need for xmas (been without it week and half since baby born anyway)
Lady tells me camcorder been discontinued and has no idea why no one told me this before

There have been other cock ups along the way but I won't go into them and won't be using ebuyer again after this episode.

Anyway, they are offering to send me in great haste an alternative model the Sony HC38 Mini DV Camcorder 40x Optical Zoom 2.5 LCD

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/127420

As you clever people recommended the 1st model, could I ask some advice on whether the new one is worth going for or perhaps another one in the £150-£200 bracket. This one is actually £40 cheaper but I don't want to take it if it's a naff one they are trying to palm off on me.

Thanks in advance

Re: Ebuyer alternative camcorder advice needed

The DCR-HC 96e was a discontinued mode that ebuyer were selling off. Looks like they ran out and started shipping HC94's instead.

The one they are offering you now couldn't hold a candle to an HC96. Get your money back and go elsewhere.

Re: Ebuyer alternative camcorder advice needed

I was quite happy with the HC94 until I had to send it back. Should I buy the same model elsewhere or can anyone recommend any others that I could buy from ebuyer for up to £200 ?

If you can find the same model elsewhere then go for it. It's unlikely that any of ebuyer's regular stock items will be anywhere near as good.

Re: Ebuyer alternative camcorder advice needed

so are ebuyer shipping HC94's instead of the HC96's as listed on their website?

Re: Ebuyer alternative camcorder advice needed

They had been offering both HC94 and HC96 models. They recently stopped selling the HC94. They still have the HC96. There is no question of them sending out HC94 if you order a HC96. The OP purchased an HC94.

To the original poster, I'd ask them to send you an HC96 as a replacement, not an HC38.

That's great - thought I had missed the boat on the HC96 there for a minute.

Re: Ebuyer alternative camcorder advice needed

You have to type HC96, not DCR-HC96 or DCR-HC96e, or it doesn't work.

£297, that's gotta be a bargain.l

Thank you mark.

Luckily Amazon had a prob taking payment when I ordered the Canon MD160 so I cancelled it and went for the MD101 which is £50 cheaper. I don't really need the stills function.

Thanks for your help
