My sister got told that the "Panasonic GS85 Mini DV" can only record 30 minutes of video, I don't know how reliable this information is...

My sister is after a DV camcorder for under £200, must record for a reasonable amount of time, quality isn't of up most importance, as long as it's clear enough, and output to TV is ideal.

For the price the Panasonic GS85 seems ideal, does anyone have any suggestions?

The length of time a miniDV camcorder can record for is only limited by the tape length and battery life. I have never seen a miniDV tape of less than 60 minutes, so AFAIK the statement about only 30 minutes recording is rubbish unless it is a very low powered battery that only lasts for that length of time. If this is the case then there will be higher powered batteries available.

As the other Mark said, the 30 min thing is rubbish.

The GS85 is a decent entry level model.... you could also consider the Canon MD101.
