Telecine

Thinking of transferring some old cine to DVD using a telecine box and camcorder. Several of the telecine boxes I have seen for sale don't have the instruction manual.
Can anyone please tell me how they are set up? The Sony VCR-4 is one I am interested in. It seems to have a lens, against which I think the camcorder goes and a sliding frosted screen at right angles to the lens - is this where you project the cine and why does it slide? Opposite the lens side there seems to be another fixed frosted screen - is this for holding prints?
Better still, if someone has a manual would they be willing to photocopy the relevant pages please?
Any other suggestions for home cine transfer welcomed!
