optical zoom

dear all,
i have 2 questions to ask:
1. is it the same of the optical zoom for photo taking in Dv(i am using canon ZR50mc, it's optical zoom is 22x and then whether this means i can also use 22x optical zoom when taking photos with SD card?

2. How to convert len's aperture value into traditional 35mm lens format, for example, f/1.6 will represent what value in 35mm camera format ?

Can anybody help me , thanks a lot!

f numbers should be the same no matter what format the camera is. So far as I'm aware f1.2 on a 35mm SLR is the same as f1.2 on a 65mm VistaVision camera. The difficulty is when you want to work out the sensitivity of the CCD in traditional film terms.

Oh and 22x optical zoom should apply to both DV and still footage.
