Quick Encode...

What do you think? works on IPOD Video/Touch so DOWNLOAD it for best quality..

http://files.filefront.com/Kung+Fu+C.../fileinfo.html

Captured from Xbox Console with PDI Deluxe/Sweetspot Card using Monster Component Cables and Dscaler Software, Encoded/Edited using TMPGEnc XPress 4

Surprisingly I done the Capture in Vista 64 bit, had to update the driver on my Creative X-Fi so I could capture the audio properly... need to use a different hard drive as don't think that hard drive can cope with the 40MB/s transfer rate needed to capture the footage RAW..

Only part I get confused about are the deinterlacing options, Upper field Lower field, how do you know which is the right one?

Also the deinterlace method, they are so many, eg.. Interpolation, Weave, Inverse Pulldown, which one do you go for?

And finally what is the best resize filter..eg Bicubic, Lanczos?

Re: Quick Encode...

I have to confess,I seldom "tamper" with those settings
I have tried the different interlacing options and found using the lower field first ( bottom) to give me the most consistent results
This is within Avid liquid, Sony Vegas and Canopus Procoder2 . It is also the default setting. Also the encoding software are not equal in ability and MainConcept ( which ships with a few video editors as plug-ins) make better standalone encoders
As for deinterlace method. I actually do nothing or use weave. On occasion Ive simply gone ahead and output as progressive with varying results but this is OK on the PC not on a DVD
I seldom resize too but from experience with Photoshop.. I Use bicubic mainly out of familiarity as Im used to what to expect from it. All the methods use various extrapolation algorithms and i think their output is simple more similar than not
I dont believe there is one "best" method and it is really very dependent on the source of the footage and how it was originally captured.. a fact many camcorder manufacturers do not always disclose so it boils down to many of us to trial and Error

Have a look at THIS HERE
You may pick up a thing or 2
