Hi-Def Panasonic HDC-SD1 Super Bargain Price ?

Go to www.qvcuk.com and in the search box type in 557846

What do you reckon ???

Very tempted, given you get a 30 day no quibble money-back guarantee ( which, I can confirm QVC are genuine and quick to refund returns ).

Obviously panasonic have just brought out a newer version of this model. the SD5, but so far the research I've done suggests in some areas its a scaled down version of the SD1 ( although slightly higher resolution ie true Hi-Def) eg. the 3 ccd's used are smaller ie 1/6 inch as opposed to the SD1's 1/4 inch

Opinions definitely wellcome, as its a limited stock item, and I'll have to be quick !!!

As long as you have done your research and know what you are getting, yes, it is an excellent price and I don't suppose the SD1 will disappoint.

Re: Hi-Def Panasonic HDC-SD1 Super Bargain Price ?

Hi,

Mine actually arrived last week, and from the same source as well
There are better models out there, but none for £420...

Attaching an HDMI cable direct and playing back on flatpanel TV was outstanding.

The only couple of niggles, only lcd for monitoring capture (May be a problem in bright conditions)?

And limited editing suites use the AVCHD format...(Although this is improving) and Ulead Which i use anyway supports it fine.

Apart from that i could not recommend it high enough, for the money its a real Bargain.

Kind regards.

Re: Hi-Def Panasonic HDC-SD1 Super Bargain Price ?

Hi all,

Thanks for this link. I've been looking at getting the SD5, but this offer was too good to miss so SD1 duly purchased

Can anyone tell me how long QVC takes to process orders and deliver? They cannot tell me anything other than 7-10 working days, which sounds rather a long time!

They are a bit odd, being TV oriented. There is no updating of your order status on the site, you just have to wait. Mine took about a week.

If you sign up to Quidco.com then you can get cashback of just over £21 so that will bring the cost of the SD1 to just over £402 including post and packaging!!

Arrived

Looks excellent. Was able to record some footage, upload into iMovie and then generate an iPhone video, all without reading the manual.

Cannot wait until I get time to play properly... especially when baby comes along in February

This seems a very good deal...does anyone know how much the SD cards are or where the cheapest price is?

Also how many minutes of HD footage can be recorded onto a 4GB memory card?

An 8Gb card is around £30-£40, but as I'm hoping Santa will deliver me a few I can't tell you where the best place to get them from is.

4Gb stores about 50 minutes in maximum resolution....which seems to be about how long the battery lasts in actual use!

Re: Hi-Def Panasonic HDC-SD1 Super Bargain Price ?

Davisa, you happy with it?

Im trying to weigh up the fact that by the time you buy another two 8gig cards the total price will rise closer to £500. I guess you get the flexibility of the camera opposed to have a fixed amound built into the camera with HDD

So far yes, extremely happy. The battery life is a bit short and the sockets (USB and power) are a bit fiddly to get at - but that's about all I don't like! Do remember though - my last camcorder was an 8mm model!
