Can I use my Panasonic NV GX7 to transcode analogue to digital

I'm trying to transfer my old (V8) analogue videos, onto my PC so I can edit them. I can record the analogue video on to the Pana DV tape, and then capture it... but this takes twice as long... and I've got a lot of analogue tapes.
If I try togo "straight thorough" the Pana and capture onto the PC, its all OK until I tell Pinnacle Studio 8 to start capture... at this point the Pana is placed into play (by Studio 8) and I can no longer see the stuff coming in from the analogue camcorder.

Anyone got any ideas how I can stop Studio controlling the Panasonic while I do these captures?

Try using a different program to record the DV.

An obvious contender is DV_IO

http://www.carr-engineering.com/dvio.htm

It's a very (and i mean very) simple DV capture tool and should do the job perfectly.
