Sony DCR-SR52E Vista?

Hi,

Just bought a Sony DCR-SR52E from Amazon. I can't install the software from the disc supplied. The installation progresses a few steps and then says:

"Cannot confirm a connection with the camera..."

My PC is a standard Dell running Windows Vista Home Premium.

Anyone got any advice before I put a hammer to it?

Do not bother with the Sony software, waste of time, it is not even required.

Hopefully you have connected via Firewire and NOT USB, if so just use Windows Movie maker it is part of Vista.

If your Camcorder records in 16:9 and you are in the UK do not forget to default Movie maker to 16:9 and 50Hz PAL.

Re: Sony DCR-SR52E Vista?

The SR52 is a MPEG2 based HDD cam, so it doesn't have Firewire, it uses USB to copy files.

Windows should recognize the camcorder as an external HDD device (without needing to load any other software), and you could use other editing software. Does the camcorder HDD show up as a drive in Windows?
