Cd Rw

Hi Guys,

I just bought a sony trv 25 and am thrilled by the quality of resolution.

Is it possible to directly copy files form the mini dv tapes onto CD-R's. And I don not have a firewire card or port on my laptop, How do I aquire a good quality set.

No, not without the right connectors, and software to handle the input and conversion.

I have both and it is still difficult and time consuming to do, and I have failed to produce a cd that will play in a dvd player.

At original quality you would only get approx 10 mins on a cd anyway.

cd - r

you have to convert your dv footage into mpeg 1 or mpeg 2. then you can burn to cd-r as vcd or svcd, i use avid dv xpress 3.5.3 to capture the footage and edit , then export as mpeg 1 or mpeg 2, then i use nero burning to burn it to cd-r, useing mpeg 2 you can get something like 17 minuets on cd-r with mpeg 2 you can get around forty minuets on cd-r, this can very so don't quote me on that. a very good and easy program to use to do all of above is PINNACLE STUDIO 8 . GOOD LUCK

Thumbs up

Hey..............

Thanx a lot. Now I have done some research and shortlisted two particular softwares i.e pinnacle and ulead. All I want to do is to transfer images from the mini dv to a CD. I am not intrested in any fancy editing and have been puzzled by the amount of options available on both pinnacle and ulead.

Has anyone got any experience with these software packages and if yes, would you recomend a simple software for just transferring images to CD's without loosing much resolution.

Thats all I want to do........

Thanking you guys

try this

if you use pinnacle studio 8 it is very simple, you capture useing a firewire connection into pinnacle , once captured you edit in pinnacle, once you have edited your film you have the option to save as to what ever you want, i would surgest you choose either
svcd or vcd - the quality when played back on a dvd player is quite good , svcd is the best as it is MPEG 2 which is the same as DVD ,give it a try you have nothing to lose , good luck fred uk
