Help Buying HDR-FX1E

Hi
Im thinking of buying a HDR-FX1E from of all places a pawn shop! the shop want £999 but I think this is a tad too much, Im a camera man by profession but Outside Broudcasts. So not much of an idea on HDV. What kind of problems, faults should I be looking out for?
Any advice, ideas much appreciated.
Sam

i would ask for the origional sales invoice if possible to to get some idea how old it is but i doubt the pawn shop would have one,i think 999 is a tad steep unless its less than 18 months but i may be wrong.if in doubt check ebay second hand prices and see if any fx1 are for sale,i think senu has one he may know the value better.

Re: Help Buying HDR-FX1E

My FX1 is about 18 months Old. and still looks, and works like new. As such I wouldn't really know what would wear out first

£999 is about double the price of a new one at the cheapest . It seems fair price. My only worry is that you have no comebacks should it go faulty and even at half price £1000 is a lot of money.. but it is a very good camcorder ( no.. splendid camcorder actually)

I would suggest that if you like it enough, Pay a small " holding" deposit and record with it in HDV , and SD watch out for drop outs from a badly used tape head .. if they occur it wont be long before you see them... and will cost a bit to fix . otherwise
There is nothing to touch it at that price
