panasonic VDR-M50EB DVD video camera

Angry panasonic VDR-M50EB DVD video camera
no option to finalise disc --- press disc navigation then Menu, select DISC then manual says choose " finalise disc " on the disc menu. The only options I get on disc menu are-- (1)capacity
(2)protect disc
( 3) format disc
( 4 ) update control info
what am I doing wrong , appreciate some help please ps :- I am using a dvd-ram double sided disc
