Sony MPEG2 file issue!!

Hi,

I recently purchased a Sony SR 32 HDD camcorder. I can move video footage across to my PC however, when I try and play the footage in windows media player I get the following message "Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there might be a problem with your sound or video device. Try installing an updated device driver". I then tried to run the footage in Proshow Gold and again I get a error message. The video only seems to run in "picture motion browser".

Both programs I mentioned say that they play MPEG2 files which is what the Sony camcorder records in?? I have tried using various converters but had no luck.

Please please help!!!

Rob.

Rob.

Re: Sony MPEG2 file issue!!

Have you checked your "device manager" ?

Right click "My Computer"
Select "properties"
Select "Device Manager"

Look for "sound video game controlers",to see if sound drivers are installed, if you have any small (!) markers then your drivers are not installed properly.

Is Pro Show Gold not a Photo slideshow program, I don't believe it accepts Video, I may be wrong.

Re: Sony MPEG2 file issue!!

It does accept video but is not primarily a media player and should not be used as such

Try VLC as suggested above, the word in my post is a hyperlink to download it
WMM and PSG should not be used to "play" video files. WMP may not play it all if your system does not have the right playback "driver files" called codecs
