Sony Vegas 7 and Avi Files

I have an avi file(got it from a digicam) The movie is clear. But Sony Vegas 7 doesn't import AVI Files... I still have to convert it to mpeg. The mpeg movie doesnt have a very good quality unlike avi..

So is there a way that Sony Vegas 7 can import avi files?

Thanks for answering..

Re: Sony Vegas 7 and Avi Files

.avi is just a "wrapper", it isn't a specific format (codec). Vegas will handle most any format in an .avi wrapper if you have the codec installed on your system.

Can you play these files from your PC (e.g. with WMP or VLC)?

You will need to figure out what codec is needed; it may be inlcluded in software provided with the digicam?

Re: Sony Vegas 7 and Avi Files

You have a motion jpeg.. I would suggest you get and install
GORDIAN KNOT
and then see if Vegas can use it .Failing that you ll may have to output it (Convert it) to a file format Vegas can use

If you have a small email( able) file you could PM me email it and Ill have a play on my one of my systems to see
