Sanyo New Machine: VPC-HD1000

Sanyo is now introducing the new VPC-HD1000 which can record full high-definition movies at 1920 x 1080 resolution. The size is so small for such camera.

There are some samples videos, take a look

You can get them from purelygadgets.co.uk for £614.95 which to me is too steep as our U.S.A cousins are paying approx $720-$799. I have seen this model on ebay for £550 but again this is still to steep if it was £450-500 then I think it would be a good buy.

£614.95 is a little bit expensive. Value of the U.S. dollar is down, so it should be less than £400 if I order from USA online store.

Thank you for your suggestion!

I finally got my VPC-HD1000 from ***************** since they provide 1 year warranty. I paid around about £370 and it is a good deal. My packages arrived on time, and all the parts in excellent condition. Very happy!

Re: Sanyo New Machine: VPC-HD1000

As a user of the previous model Xacti HD2, be aware that these Sanyo cams are no substitute for a good HD camcorder, UK/PAL users should also be aware that they record at 30fps meaning that the footage taken is not compatible with the PAL standard 25fps. which can cause problems if you want to edit the footage in the PAL format.
Being so small I use my Sanyo Xacti as a "take everywhere/never miss a shot camera" (you can put it in your pocket) but if I want to edit and use the clips in conjunction with my Canon HV20, I have to go through the process of converting the frame rate to 25fps.

In good light, and subject to the additional proviso that their image stabiliser is not brilliant, they are fine, and extremely portable. The 30fps is a nuisance I agree if you want to edit using an app. that doesn't support 30fps.

The consensus on this forum would at the present time seem to point towards the Canons, HV20/30 HG10, the HV20 should be dropping in price now that the HV30 has been released although there is not much difference in the 2 cameras except colour, the new one being black.
The Sanyo IMO at the moment is overpriced for what it offers.
