Cool which HDD camcorder works best in low light

I am thinking about buying a new hard disk camcorder, but some of the reviews dont look good for recording in poor light conditions. This is certainly the case with my JVC (GZ-MG20EK) Also there seems to be problems editing with my current camcorder which stores the clips as "MOD. files and sometimes kicks me out of my editing programmes (Ive tried several). Any helpful suggestions greatly appreciated.

Re: which HDD camcorder works best in low light

The received wisdom in the circles that matter is that the Canon HG10 in 25p (PAL) mode would be the best in low light.

Consider though, that any camcorder with manual controls will perform better in lowlight if you learn how to use those manual controls rather than just relying on the auto setting.

For SD, I think probably the Sony SR190.

For HD, the Canon HG10 seems to have the edge per recent reviews.

Re: which HDD camcorder works best in low light

I'd agree HG10, but I don't like the SR190: it's not as good as the SR90e/100 that it replaced.

Maybe, but it is close (the 190 to the 90) in performance.

Think that HG10 is the standout.

What am I saying? I have never even seen one!
