Is it worth upgrading from Vegas 7 to Vegas Pro 8

I've just noticed the new Vegas Pro 8 on the Sony site. Anybody had any experience with it. Whats the main advantages over Vegas 7. Looks like it'll cost around £140 to upgrade, but is it worth doing.

Thanks for any advice,

Mark

I think so especially if your new PC will be sporting Vista. and you might find an AVCHD camcorder come your way.

I reckon it is a reasonable upgrade price unless you are so happy with 7 and wont be getting a PC with Vista that you may just hang on till ver9 in 2008 :cool
The official line talks of a new titler ( tiling has never been vegases strong point) multicam editing: nice if you need it, Better handling of mpeg type formats ( no unnessesary reencoding) and support for BD .
Are these features worth £140 to you...??

Only costs $135 USD downloaded if you use this link, until Oct 31 ($100 off)

I'm trying it at the moment; I'm currently undecided. Senu covered the major features. The one I was most interested in was the smart rendering of HDV..... but there is a bug in that and you get some bad frames. Supposedly they are working on a fix. It also has 32 bit processing which may help with colour correction, though I find it confusing trying to understand how useful that really is. I haven't tried the new pro titler yet.

Re: Is it worth upgrading from Vegas 7 to Vegas Pro 8

Thanks Senu and Mark.

How did you find the upgrade for that price, sounds even better now

I'm not sure what to do. I run Windows Vista and have had no trouble with Vegas 7 so far, but the smart rendering of HD sounds interesting.

Decisions Decisions...

Mark

Oh one more thing, do you guy's use Cinescore. Just wondering what this is like.

They usually do a special discount for the initial launch, so I went looking for it.

I suggest downloading the trial. I'm currently waiting for them to release an update which fixes the HDV problem and some other inital bugs... then I'll probably upgrade.

Are there any Tutorials available for Vegas 7 or Vegas 8. I'd like to learn a little more about them.

Re: Is it worth upgrading from Vegas 7 to Vegas Pro 8

Apparently Vegas 8 comes with a tutorial DVD. However the Movie Studio versions all have very comprehensive help called "show me how" which is intuitive and quite interactive
As it is within the software you can put the tutorial to use right away
There are websites Mark has linked a few times but the Sony website does also have a few for ver 5/6. Because the GUI isnt very different they are still handy
There is an interactive book for £21 I got off these Guys to design some in house tutorials
Pm me for a little "homemade" DVD from tutorials later if you wish
