Which Hard Drive Camcorder?

hiya

Im looking to buy a new hard drive camcorder

Which would you guys recommend?

I wanted to upgrade from my mini dv panasonic nvgs55 so I bought a sony hdr sr5 but the way it takes a while to focus when moving the camera whilst filing is a bit annoying,so ill be taking it back to exchange

Does that mean all high definition camcorders do that?

If so ill just want a hard drive camcorder with decent picture quality (bearing in mind that i wasnt too dissapointed with my panasonic pic quality)

Hope someone can help
Thanks

Re: Which Hard Drive Camcorder?

Read your other thread....all HDD camcorders( and FlashCard) (especially AVCHD) will do that , to various degree.
Canons HG10 ( the latest) has good reviews but Ill be pleasantly surprised if the reviewers havent simply accepted this as the current state of technology and has something to be "worked around".. most sample videos show a still scene with camcorder most likely to be on the tripod in good light

The HDV on MiniDV tape does too albeit much less so
and
I suspect the better SD HDD models are better as long as you stick to mid range rather than Lower end " budget"

Although MiniDV SD should not "hunt" ( in good light) some may but that is not a limitation of the technology , rather a limitation of that particular camcorder

Re: Which Hard Drive Camcorder?

Try the SR5 in SD mode... that ahould be similar to a decent SD cam (e.g. the Sony SR190).
In low light (indoors) high def camcorders tend to take longer to autofocus. If you can add light it will be much better.
