Stills from a DVD

I have a DVD a mate produced and I want to take some still shots from it.
I have tried screen print as the DVD is playing and tried to paste it into MS office picture manager, it does not work. Can anyone tell me if there is a way of doing what I want useing either software I have (Sony Vegas 7.0, Media player, all the usual players) or is there a small freeware bit of software that will do what I want?

Good on you.
If don't want to use Vegas though most software DVD players have a facility to capture Stills. It is usually a camera icon
