BDMV and BDAV Authoring

In the HD DVD players section we had a rather in depth discussion about authoring home movies on Blu-ray. It seemed like an odd place to have that discussion but the upshot was that there were concerns that the ability to produce BDMV discs with menus was actually going to be removed due to piracy concerns. I've found from my own tests that at present this isnt the case and that BDMV discs are playable, but there is a concern that eventually the ability to make these kinds of discs will be disabled.

BDAV/BDMV Authoring

I've attatched the forum link here and just wondered if anyone else out there had tried to burn BDMV home video and had encountered playback problems?

PS BDMV discs are Blu-ray video discs with menus, BDAV discs are video discs without menus

Re: BDMV and BDAV Authoring

really don't think there's a need to go into it in the camcorder section m8, it's not video editing

yeah, have made plenty of BDMV's in Roxio DVDit Pro HD and in Encore CS3, not had problems with playback on a PC with PowerDVD or in a PS3

never made a BDAV, don't see the point

Authoring is a weird one and I'm never sure where the best place for these threads should be.

Mods please move this thraed if there is anywhere else more relevant.
