hi all!

i need a firewire card for my pc to connect to my hdr hc7. iv seen some at 800mbps and some at 400mbps. since the transfer of video is gonna be real time at 25mbps - think im right there, i take it a 400mbps card is more than fine yeh?

hope it is that simple?

The high speed is for external hard drives etc, your DV camera will get away with the slower speed.

Yep, the firewire on a camcorder is firewire400 only, so spending extra on a firewire800 card will offer no advantages for video capture.
